Chelmsford Veterans Park
235 North Road
Chelmsford Veterans Park was founded by Mike Kinney, a veteran of the Marines who served in the Vietnam War. When the park and the wall were dedicated on July 3, 1992, the wall consisted of 9 granite stones arranged in descending height from the center. They
were inscribed with over 1,100 names, all of which were veterans who served in the military from Chelmsford. In December 1992, October 1993, and December 1995, more walls were dedicated. By 2003, there were 17 walls in the park. The arrangement of the graduated stones are meant to represent a winged man, and the original placement of the stones was in a “V” shape, to represent valor or victory. The inscription on the top pillar reads: “Dedicated to the men and women of Chelmsford who answered our country’s call in time of war and national emergency and to veterans of all wars everywhere.” There are also various other monuments dedicated to other people such as William L. Bagni, who served 32 years in the U.S. Army, William E. Belleville, Sr., who served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, and many others.
